Santa Clause is Coming to Town

I have been asking Porter for two months what he wants for Christmas and all he has told me is a bubble whistle and pretend grapes....

Still Jason and I have been telling Porter that he has to be good so Santa will bring him lots of presents, especially the past few days. Well Santa came to our house tonight and Porter was SO excited. He politely said to Santa (after grandma Yoshi told him what to say), "Come in Santa! Will you have a seat?" Santa said to Porter, "You have been a very good boy this year!" Porter responded, "So does that mean I get lots of presents?" Santa told him he was getting so many presents that they all would not fit on his sleigh and he needed to bring one to him tonight while he was on a test run with his reindeer. Santa gave him an awesome truck and when he opened it Porter said, "Oh thank you Santa! I really wanted this!!!!" Santa also brought Luke and Aubree cute rattles (their very first ones) and Porter helped them open them. Aubree and Luke both loved Santa and were very content in his arm. I was nervous they were going to be grumpy because it was time for them to eat, but Santa worked his magic!

*This is Porter's new BIG smile. I think he has been doing it because he is always hearing everyone say, Oh look at Aubree she is smiling SO BIG!"

P.S. We aren't just about Santa and presents. This is how Porter set up the nativity. All gathered around baby Jesus :) I love the lamb going through the archway.

Just some more pictures of the kids today.

Two Month Checkup

I know I know my post titles are so creative! We had the babies two month checkup today and they did so good. They are actually exactly 10 weeks old today, but they were born 3 weeks early so...

Luke
weight: 10 lbs 12 oz (27%)
height: 22.5 in (20%)

Aubree
weight: 9 lbs 11 oz (20%)
height: 21.5 in (45%) I'm not sure if the nurse wrote that % down right.

They seem like they are getting so much bigger and their % did go up quite a bit, but they are SO small. Porter is always in the 90th percentile in height and 70th-90th in weight so he was MUCH bigger then these two littles.

They did really good with their shots and calmed down really quickly afterwards then crashed for a long time. Jason and I actually went out to lunch and they slept the whole time! I was so proud of myself for actually taking them out in public even though we left them covered in their car seats the entire time. It is still progress right? I still don't dare to get them around crowds and Dr. Katie (our ped) made sure to tell us not to take them to church and totally supported me sequestering them to the basement! She said she has seen a ton of kids with cold and flu lately and that it would be a nightmare to have two sick babies.

Here is a picture of them right before we left and one with Jason holding them. Jason thought the little bear coats were so cute especially because he calls Aubree - Bree Bear. (I call her BobBree and Porter still calls her Marlo half the time since that is what I named her and called her up until the day we went to the hospital and I told Jason he could name her thinking he would pick MY favorite name for me since she will be my only daughter but no... I did name Luke so I guess its only fair. We all call Luke - Lukey Luke! So that was a little off topic.)

And here is one of the many indoor activities Porter does. He has to really entertain himself for the most part, poor kid. My grandparents have been back from their vacation for just over a week and Porter has already slept over there twice and he did NOT want to leave today when we went to pick him up. I don't blame him at all. I am so lucky he is such a good kid. I am listening to Jason give him a horsey ride right now and Porter is telling Jason he is a slow horse!! Porter also was just saying to Jason, "Oh daddy this one is a BEEEEEAUTY!" I have no idea what he is talking about, but he is so cute.

Two Month Babies!

December 12, 2010

Luke and Aubree are 2 months old today and I can't believe it! It really has gone by so fast.

here they are today after their baths. I wanted to take a picture of them together, but Luke fell asleep in his swing.

The rest of this post is just some things I want to remember and some pictures.

Sleeping

Luke: Will only fall asleep in our arms (which is hard when there are two) OR on his belly (which freaks me out). Usually during the day when I am awake I will let him sleep on his belly, but I have to check on him every minute or two. At night I have tried a few times to put him down on his back and it is no fun at all. He wakes up at least every five minutes! About half the time I just end up having him sleep with me. The other half we let him fall asleep on his belly and then try turn him.

Aubree: The majority of the time I can lay her in her crib when she is awake and she will fall asleep. The only thing with her is that she loves her binky, but she can't keep it in her mouth so if she wants it to fall asleep it takes her a lot longer. We usually have to put her binky back in her mouth 5+ times until she is in a deep enough sleep. She falls asleep easy most of the time, but dosen't stay asleep very well.

Baths:

Luke: Loves his bath. He is very calm and content in the bath. Getting lotion on and dressed after however is the maddest he gets. He HATES getting dressed.

Aubree: She is still a little unsure about the bath, but she dosen't cry. She is pretty good about getting dressed.

Disposition:

Luke: I think he went through a bit of a colicky stage but he is slowly getting better. He tends to cry a LOT more than Aubree (its so hard not to compare them). When we talk or sing to him it is very hard to get him to smile he just started smiling at us about a week ago and we might get one little, quick, half smile a day if we are lucky. He does however "talk" to us and reach for us. He usually has a very serious, wide eyed look about him. He cries the most out of all my babies and most of the time I am the only one that can calm him down. Its heartwarming, but very trying at times especially with another baby that needs attention too. He loves to be held and cuddled. Oh he also snorts like a little pig noise when he is starting to get upset. Its pretty cute.

Aubree: She really is such an angel baby. She is very content. She is also VERY smiley. She has been smiling for weeks and her whole little face lights up and she will smile for a really long time. She has a much louder cry than Luke and she is a little less patient than Luke, but just when she wants her binky or her bottle - other than that she is really a super easy baby.

Eating/ Weight:
(They both eat every 4 hours now. Sometimes they will go up to six at night.)

Luke: Usually about 4 ounces. Jason weighed himself then himself with the babies Luke added 10 lbs. Luke looks a lot thicker than Aubree he has big cheeks and his feet and legs are about twice the width of Aubree's.

Aubree: Up to 4 ounces but usually about 3 ounces. Aubree added 9 lbs to Jason. She still has such skinny little legs and bum.

Their one month appointment isn't until the 21st so I will get to see what they really weigh then. I am so nervous for the shots! I had to make it on the 21st so Jason could come with me.

Both babies love their little glow worm musical stuffed toys that Porter gave them and their mobiles. They are both getting really strong.

** Update ** Aubree rolled over all by herself today!!! Luke smiled huge for a long time at my dad today!! Right on their two month birthday!! Yay! **

PORTER: He is doing so much better than I expected since he was an only child with tons of attention for over 4 years! He is so cute with them. He dosen't really want to hold them a lot, but he does kiss them and talk to them all the time. At least once a day he will tell them he loves them out of the blue. I love that! Porter has started getting out of his bed at night, multiple times. He has never done that before the babies were born. He loves to help me by throwing diapers away, giving the babies their binkys, washing the bottles, and getting me things I need. He also loves to sing and talk to the babies and do tummy time with them. I love that kid so much. He also keeps me laughing all day.

The other day Luke was freaking out for no reason and Porter and I were sitting on the floor. I was trying to calm Luke down so I was talking to him and I said, "oh Luke you are just pathetic!" (Nice I know, but you should see his face when he cries and his huge tears, it so sad.) Anyways Porter said, "Yeah Luke you are just PERFECTic!" I had to laugh, the crying really does not seem to bother Porter at all.

Porter is always saying that he is going to be a giant when he grows up. He also told me the other day that he wants Aubree to grow up to be a giant so he can marry her. I told him he couldn't marry his sister so he decided she could be his mom instead since I will be too little. He really loves his little brother and sister.

Life with twins is crazy. It is way more than 2 times harder than one. It is really crazy and we are really sleep deprived but we are loving it.

ONE MONTH PICS

I had their pictures taken when they were exactly one month. They have already changed so much. Its crazy how fast they grow. Here are some of the 1 month pictures...
