Jason and I showed up at the hospital at 8:00 for a 10:00 c-section. On the way there I read the paper that said we only had to be to the hospital an hour and a half before the schedule c-section time, not 2 hours. So we sat in the car until we couldn't stand it any longer and then made our way up to labor and delivery and by that time it was about 8:30. They got us to our room and me all hooked up to the monitors and then informed us that our c-section was not scheduled until noon. My parents and my Grandma Danna showed up and got to wait with us. Luckily time passed a lot faster then I thought it would.
At around noon they took me back to the OR and Jason was able to stay with me the whole time. I got my spinal block which hurt like crazy for a minute. I could feel the anesthesiologist put the needle in my back and it was so painful but I didn't dare to move so I just started saying owowowow and Jason later told me the anesthesiologist hurried and took the big needle out and gave me a bunch more lidocaine. I just kept asking Jason the whole time if he was done yet and it seemed like he told me no a million times and that it took an hour. Then the next thing I remember is that I was numb and my Dr came in. Everything else happened so fast. I felt someone push a tiny bit on my tummy and asking Jason if I was opened up yet and he nodded his head and 2 seconds later there was Luke's tiny head popping over the curtain and my dr. saying, "hi mom!" It was so awesome and Luke was so tiny. After Luke came Aubree and he didn't pop her over the curtain, but the nurse brought her around and showed her to me. They both came out screaming which was a huge relief!
After that I remember Jason telling me how much they weighed and we were so excited that Luke was only 6 oz smaller then Aubree. The babies were then hurried off to the nursery because Luke had a huge bruise down his entire back and their blood sugars were low. I was taken to the recovery room and my mom and Jason were able to go to the nursery with the babies. My grandparents were also able to get Porter to the hospital with Porter so he was able to see the babies and give me a kiss when I got done.
Jason kept coming in and giving me updates on the babies.
They had to take Luke's blood to check his clotting factor because they were nervous about the bruise. The gave him an IV to get the blood in case they needed to get him fluid or medication. They missed on the first hand and had to poke both :( Jason said that was really hard to watch. They also started getting him ready for a feeding tube because of his blood sugar and he would not eat but the AMAZING nurse Deborah in the nursery got him to take a bottle so he didn't need the tube after all. Also, his blood results came back normal and the bruise on his back was gone the next day! He is seriously such a miracle. Aubree did fine the whole time in the nursery. I didn't know what her name was going to be until about three hours after they were born and I asked my mom what Jason named her. He did good it fits her perfect.
Really the whole experience was pretty much in a blur.
The hospital stay was awesome and we loved all of our nurses (except one which Jason of all people didn't get along to well with). I sometimes wish I was still there except for then I would miss Porter.
AUBREE is our little princess. She is such a good baby. She sleeps soundly and doesn't cry too much. She is a messy eater and a great burper! She already has her dad wrapped around her little finger.
LUKE is our little noise maker. He grunts and makes all sorts of noises in his sleep. He is a great eater and almost eats 2 full ounces every three hours! He is so cute.
Here are some more pics of the hospital and the babies coming home in their huge looking car seats!

I just wanted to get this down before I forget.

Thanks for sharing! I love birth stories and it makes me so much more excited for our soon to be birth story. :) The babies are adorable and so tiny. It's so hard to watch your itty bitty baby get poked. Glad Luke is doing better and that Aubree is healthy, too!
